Texas State shot a 287 Tuesday and was three-under par as a team to finish in a tie for third at the rain-shortened, two-round Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic.
With a two-round score of 573, the Bobcats were just two strokes back of team champion Western Kentucky which finished at -5 for the tournament. Host North Texas was second at -4 while Louisiana-Lafayette tied with the Bobcats for third at -3.
Texas State was led by freshman Phillip Krebsbach and Andrew Bryant who tied for fourth.
Krebsbach shot a two-round 70-72. Bryant shot a 73 on Monday before rebounding to card a three-under par 69 Tuesday.
The Bobcats return to action next week when they take part in the Texas Cup at the University of Texas Golf Club.
