Final Stats

San Marcos - Texas State couldn't get any momentum Sunday afternoon and was run ruled by Stephen F. Austin, 11-0. The Bobcats fall to 17-7 in the Southland Conference and 32-17 overall, while the Lumberjacks improve to 13-11 in the SLC and 26-23 overall.

The Bobcats finished 2-1 against the Lumberjacks, unable to get the three-game sweep. Texas State run ruled SFA in game one of the series, 13-3 with the aid of two David Wood home runs. Jared Bunn homered in game two of the series, leading the Bobcats to an 8-5 victory. Overall, the three-game series produced eight home runs between both teams.

Steven Siers falls to 5-2 on the season, after giving up two home runs in the second inning. Siers settled down after that, only allowing three hits and three runs to score and struck out three in five innings of work.

The Bobcats found themselves down, 3-0 at the end of the second inning, after Noel Trevino and Kevin Croft both hit homers over left field.

The game went scoreless until the seventh inning, when Texas State gave up eight runs. Four of those runs came off of a Chris Smith grand slam.

Texas State seemed to be bouncing back in the seventh, loading the bases. Aaron Garza reached on an error by the shortstop and moved to second on a Paul Goldschmidt ground out. Gerry Cervantez singled and Elliott Babcock walked to load the bases. But Lance Luetge, who threw a complete game, was able to retire two batters for the last two outs.

Siers, Kyle Gembler, Matt Oakes and Eric Weaver all appeared on the mound for Texas State.

The Bobcats gear up for a non-conference game against No.4 Rice. Ty Harrington's team will travel to Houston on Wednesday, May 9 for an exciting showdown with the Owls. The game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start. Texas State leads the series with Rice this season, after Laurn Randell drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, for a 3-2 victory.
