Final Stats

San Marcos - Texas State could not over power a six-run, second inning by McNeese State and fell, 10-7. The loss puts the Bobcats at 18-8 in the Southland Conference and 33-19 overall. The Cowboys improve to 16-9 in the SLC and 20-29 overall.

Starting pitcher Mike Hart struggled in the second inning, allowing the Cowboys to score six runs off of six hits.

Down 6-0 in the bottom of the second, Texas State began chipping away at the Cowboys lead. Jared Bunn started things off offensively, hitting a one hop ball over the fence in right center for a ground rule double. Elliott Babcock singled to right, scoring Bunn.

The Bobcat bats came in alive in the fifth, scoring four runs off of four hits. Casey Guest led off the inning with a single and scored off of a Thomas Field double. Adam Witek hit a fielder's choice, resulting in Field being putout at third on a close call. David Wood cleared the bases, hitting a home run out to center field, cutting the Cowboy lead to, 6-3. Aaron Garza was hit his 14th time this season to get on first base. Bunn hit another double for his second RBI of the day and the `Cats left the fifth down, 6-5.

But the Cowboys would keep the lead the entire game, scoring three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Texas State attempted to pull off a comeback in the bottom of the ninth, but were only able to score two runs.

Wood went two-for-five at the plate, scored one run and brought in two while Bunn score two and went three-for-four at the plate.

The two face off for the final game of the series on Sunday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m.
