BEAUMONT--The Bobcats gave up three runs early and could not bounce back for a 3-0 loss to Lamar. Texas State falls to 15-6 in the Southland Conference and 30-16 overall, while Lamar improves to 16-5 in the SLC and 29-18 overall.

Gerry Cervantez led the way for Texas State, scoring one run in the seventh and going three-for-four at the plate.

The Cardinals jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning, scoring one run. They were able to add two more in the third, for a 3-0 lead.

Texas State had plenty of chances, leaving runners stranded on base in the first, third, sixth and ninth innings.

The Bobcats picked up their lone run in the seventh inning. Cervantez reached on a fielder's choice and took third after a Lamar throwing error. Thomas Field grounded out to the shortstop, scoring Cervantez.

Mike Hart takes the loss for the Bobcats, throwing four innings. He falls to 6-4 on the season.

The Bobcats host Stephen F. Austin at Bobcat Field for a three-game conference series. The series kicks off on May 4 at 6:30 p.m.
