After a pitching change, Texas State struggled on the mound, giving up one run in the third inning and seven runs in the sixth inning. Baylor took a 13-2 lead at the conclusion of the seventh, scoring four more runs.

The Bobcats started to stage their comeback in the seventh, scoring two runs before lighting struck. Bear pitcher Willie Kempf walked pinch hitter Aaron Fuller, followed by an Adam Witek hit. Jared Bunn singled, loading the bases for Aaron Garza. Garza singled, scoring Fuller and advancing Witek to third and Bunn to second. Witek scored off of a Paul Goldschmidt hit.

Ty Harrington and the Bobcats tried some different things against Baylor, as players were shuffled around on defense and Wood made his pitching debut of the 2007 season and Bunn threw in his first regular season game in a Bobcat uniform.

Both teams and fans took shelter after lighting delayed the game by a NCAA rule of 30 minutes before it was eventually called off.
