Bobcats Fall to Bears, 5-2

CONWAY, ARK.--Texas State could not overcome Central Arkansas pitcher Jeremy Cloud and lost their fourth conference game of the season, 5-2. The Bobcats fall to 28-13 overall and 13-4 in the SLC, while the Bears improve to 16-21 overall and 6-11 in the SLC.

Adam Witek and David Wood led the way at the plate, both going two-for-four. Seniors Aaron Garza and Casey Guest each scored for the Bobcats. Steven Siers and Jason Baca were on the mound Texas State, striking out a combined seven batters.

Garza started things off in the second inning with a single up the middle. He stole second and then stole third while Jared Bunn stole second. Garza then scored off of a throwing error by the Bear catcher, putting Texas State up 1-0.

Central Arkansas took the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs. Guest tied the game with a run in the fifth. The senior doubled and scored off of a Witek single.

The Bears scored two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh. The Bobcats had chances to score in the seventh and eighth innings, leaving runners stranded on base.

The final game of the series between Texas State and Central Arkansas takes place on March 22 at 1:00 p.m.
