SAN MARCOS-- Justin Fiske led the team with 13 strikeouts for his second complete game of the season. He held Southeastern Louisiana to two hits and no runs for a 7-0 win on Friday night. The senior has not allowed a runner to score in 18 straight innings in his last three starts.

Texas State improves to 11-2 in the Southland Conference and 26-11 overall. The Lions fall to 5-8 in conference and 22-14 overall.

Thomas Field hit his third home run of the season, going one-for-four at the plate, with four RBIs. Aaron Garza, Laurn Randell, David Wood and Jared Bunn were all two-for-four at the plate.

Texas State started out strong, scoring runs in the first, second and third innings. Randell set the pace in his first at bat, hitting a double to left field. Paul Goldschmidt would walk and both were brought in by a Garza double.

The Bobcats took a 5-0 lead at the conclusion of the second, after Field hit his third home run of the year. Bunn and Casey Guest both singled occupying first and second. Field sent a ball sailing over the left field wall for a three-run homer.

Garza and Gerry Cervantez added two more runs in the third inning, putting Texas State up, 7-0. Garza singled to center field and advanced to third on an error by the Southeastern Louisiana center fielder. Cervantez hit a fielder's choice, scoring Garza. Field got to first on an error by the third baseman and scored Cervantez.

Fiske and team stopped all offensive threats made by the Lions. The College Station native retired three straight batters in the eighth and took two in the ninth for the win.

Texas State takes on Southeastern Louisiana in game two of the series on April 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
