CORPUS CHRISTI--Ty Harrington's Bobcats fought back from their first Southland Conference loss to take games two and three against A&M-Corpus Christi. The Bobcats took both games in the doubleheader, 6-2 and 9-1. After a five and a half hour game delay due to rain, the Bobcats came out and posted 27 hits and 15 runs in back-to-back wins.

Texas State is now 8-1 in the SLC and 21-9 overall. The Islanders fall to 3-6 in the SLC and 16-15 overall.

Texas State 6, A&M-Corpus Christi 2
The Bobcats belted out 14 hits and forced the Islanders to commit two errors in the 6-2 win. Casey Guest was three-for-four at the plate, with two RBIs. Guest started off the scoring for Texas State, picking up one of two runs in the second inning.

Guest singled and was brought in by a Laurn Randell hit, putting Texas State up 1-0.

The Bobcats extended their lead in the fourth, scoring three runs. Ben Theriot doubled and was brought in by a Guest hit. Thomas Field singled, putting Guest in scoring position and Randell would bring Guest home with his second RBI of the game. Field scored off of a David Wood hit.

Seniors Jared Bunn and Aaron Garza would score in the fifth, putting Texas State up 6-0.

A&M-Corpus Christi would score a run in the fifth and sixth innings. Justin Fiske was on the mound for eight innings, allowing nine hits, two runs and striking out seven.

David Wood went two-for-five at the plate, hitting his sixth home run of the season and Aaron Garza was three-for-five scoring one run in the win.

The Bobcats jumped on the scoreboard in the third inning, scoring two runs. Paul Goldschmidt singled up the middle, scoring Randell, who doubled and Field, who singled.

The Islanders added a run in the third when Paul Saville scored.

Field added a run in the seventh and then Texas State pulled away, scoring six runs in the eighth. Pat Crumpton, Cervantez and Garza would score before A&M-Corpus Christi changed it up on the mound. The switch didn't phase the Bobcats, as Wood hit a home run, bringing in three runs.

Steven Siers was on the mound for Texas State, throwing seven innings. The junior gave up eight hits, one run and struck out seven before Eric Weaver would make his third appearance of the weekend.

The Bobcats travel to take on nationally ranked Big 12 member Texas A&M on Tuesday, April 3. The game will be held at Round Rock Dell Diamond first pitch slated for 6:00 p.m. Texas State will get one days rest before hosting Sam Houston State at Bobcat Field for the three game conference series beginning on April 5.
