CONWAY, Ark. -
Texas State swept six straight-set singles victories and also won the doubles point to beat Central Arkansas 7-0 in a Southland Conference road match.
With the win, Texas State improved to 9-5 and 5-2 in SLC play. The Bobcats have now won their last three conference matches and six of their last seven matches overall. Central Arkansas is now 4-13 and 1-7.
Playing at No. 4 singles, Rabea Hartmann won her seventh straight singles match, defeating Central Arkansas' Jenny Paine 6-0, 6-0. At No. 6 singles, junior Ali Gulida won her sixth straight with a 6-1, 6-0 win over UCA's Lindsey Short. No. 1 singles player Ashley Ellis won her third straight match, beating Petra Keilova 6-3, 7-5.
Also winning Sunday in singles play for Texas State were Andrea Giraldo (No. 2), Lainy Chafitz (No. 2) and Sumarie Muller (No. 5).
Texas State also swept the three doubles matches against the Sugar Bears.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday when they resume a postponed match against Northwestern State. The venue will change from Natchitoches, La., to San Antonio as the Lady Demons will be in town to take on Texas-San Antonio that afternoon. When rains hit Natchitoches on Saturday, both Texas State and NSU were in the lead of three singles matches as play had been reversed with singles being played ahead of the doubles.
Texas State is back in action at home Friday morning when the `Cats play host to Lamar at 10 a.m.
