Final Stats
DALLAS--Texas State banged out 19 hits and Laurn Randell picked up his first home run in a 14-1 win over Toledo on March 9. The Bobcats (13-6) were led by Mike Hart, who picked up his fourth win of the season. Hart threw six innings, striking out six and allowed five hits and one run. Toledo falls to 4-4 on the season.
David Wood and Aaron Garza led the scoring with three runs a piece. Wood was three-for-six at the plate with one RBI and Garza went two-for-five with two RBIs.
Texas State got down to business right away, as they led 3-0 at the end of the second. Thomas Field led off, reaching on a Rocket error and scored off of Randell's home run in the first inning. In the second, designated hitter Aaron Fuller singled and scored off of a Ben Theriot double.
Seniors Wood, Garza and Jared Bunn all added runs in the third, extending the lead. Wood would score on a Rocket error, landing Garza on first base. Bunn stepped up to the plate and hit his second home run of the season, clearing the bases.
The Bobcats would have another big at bat in the fifth, as they scored four runs off four hits. Wood, Garza, Crumpton and Bunn all scored, putting Texas State up 10-0.
Toledo earned their lone run of the night in the sixth inning, as left fielder Josh Johnson scored. Johnson reached on a Bobcat error, advanced to third by two base hits and scored off of a hit by pitch.
Texas State would tack on a run in the eighth and three in the ninth, bringing in Josh Walter to close. In addition to his first career home run, Randell scored two runs and had two RBIs. Bunn was three-for-six at the plate, scoring two runs with three RBIs.
The Bobcats wrap up play in the Dallas Baptist Tournament as they face Missouri on March 10th. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
