Final Stats

ARLINGTON-- Texas State pulled out a 7-6 win over Texas-Arlington to take the three-game series. Laurn Randell scored two runs while David Wood was two-for-five at the plate with two RBIs. The Bobcats haven't suffered a loss in the Southland Conference and are now 6-0 and 19-8 overall. The Mavericks fall to 0-6 in the SLC, 9-18 overall.

Texas-Arlington did not go down without a fight, scoring first and leading throughout the game. Both teams wrestled back and forth for the lead, until Texas State secured three runs in the eighth.

At the end of the second, UTA led 1-0, with Leo Radkowski scoring the first run of the game. Radkowski hit a fielder's choice and scored when David Masters laid down a sacrifice bunt.

Wood and the Bobcats answered right back with two runs of their own. Wood, doubled down left field line scoring Casey Guest, who walked and Thomas Field, who was hit by a pitch.

The Mavericks took a 3-2 lead in the third, when David Newby and Danny Slinkman scored. Ty Harrington's Bobcats didn't stay down, adding two runs in the sixth. Jared Bunn walked and advanced to second when Randell was hit by a pitch. Adam Witek grounded out to the pitcher, moving both runners and Elliott Babcock brought Bunn and Field home, with a hit up the middle.

UTA tied things up the seventh at 4-4 when Collin Garner scored. Texas State took a 7-4 lead when Randell, Gerry Cervantez and Witek all scored in the eighth.

The Mavericks threatened the Bobcats perfect conference record, by posting a run in the eighth and ninth. Closer Eric Weaver and the Texas State defense came up big, getting out of both innings to take the win. The Bobcats had seven hits and forced UTA to commit four errors.

Texas State continues on the road, heading to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game series. The two face off March 30th at 6:30 p.m. and then play a double header on March 31st.
