ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-- Texas State jumped on the scoreboard first, but it would not be enough to overcome New Mexico. The Lobos were able to add on four runs in the eighth to seal a 13-7 victory over the Bobcats. Texas State falls to 8-5 on the season while New Mexico improves to 6-6.

Adam Witek would be the first Bobcat on base, with a walk. Seniors David Wood and Aaron Garza singled, advancing Witek around the bases to score. Senior Jared Bunn would score Wood and Garza off of a single to left field, putting the Bobcats up 3-0 in the first.

The lead was not held for long as New Mexico threw up four runs in the first inning. The Lobos led, 8-3 at the end of third, scoring three runs in the second and one in the third inning.

The Bobcats began chipping away at the lead in the fourth, as Laurn Randell would score. Randle singled to left field to get on base. He was advanced by designated hitter Aaron Fuller, who singled and Pat Crumpton, who sac flied out to left field.

The Texas State defense and relief pitcher Jason Baca did not allow a hit in the fifth or sixth and cut the lead to three. Fuller singled through the right side and advanced on a Ben Theriot single. Crumpton walked, advancing both runners. Sophomore shortstop Thomas Field hit a fielder's choice, scoring Fuller. Texas State trailed New Mexico, 8-5 at the end of the sixth, which would be as close as they would get.
