Final Stats
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-- The Texas State baseball team could not catch up to New Mexico's early scoring and fell 10-0 on Friday. The Bobcats, now 8-4, were held scoreless by Lobos pitcher Bobby LaFromboise, who threw a complete game. LaFromboise goes to 2-0, while Bobcat pitcher Mike Hart is now 2-1.
New Mexico, now 5-6, scored in the first, driving in three runs. Consistent scoring would put the Lobos up 7-0 at the end of the fourth.
Texas State would have several chances, leaving runners stranded on base in the third, sixth and eighth innings. New Mexico was able to tack on three runs in the seventh, and held Texas State in the ninth for the shutout.
Catcher Gerry Cervantez went 2-for-3 at the plate. While Aaron Garza, Laurn Randell and Elliott Babcock were all 1-for-3.
Game two of the series takes place Saturday, with the first pitch being thrown at 4:00 p.m.
