Texas State rebounded from a tough doubles loss to win five singles matches and post a 5-2 win over North Texas to open a lengthy road swing Saturday.
The Bobcats won for the third straight time in improving to 3-1. The squad begins Southland Conference play Sunday at Texas-Arlington. North Texas dropped to 0-7.
Texas State went 1-2 in doubles play, including a 9-8 loss at No. 2 doubles by Sumarie Muller and Ali Gulida. But both Gulida and Muller would come back to win singles matches in straight sets to help the Bobcats to the dual win.
Gulida defeated Mary Poe 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 while Muller defeated Sara Giles 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5. Also winning in singles play were Ashley Ellis at No. 1, Andrea Giraldo at No. 2 and Mackenzie Farmer at No. 6.
In addition to Sunday's match at UTA, the Bobcats also travel to SMU and TCU before returning home.
