Final Stats

SAN MARCOS - Texas State belted 18 hits including three home runs for a 22-6 win over Prairie View A&M on Friday. David Wood, Thomas Field and Jared Bunn led Texas State scoring ten collective runs and a home run a piece.

Prairie View A&M jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring three runs. Texas State would answer back, with Wood's homer scoring two, cutting the Panther lead to a run.

The Panthers would get one run in the second, followed by four Texas State runs. Field, Adam Witek, Wood and Bunn would all score in the second. Witek, Wood and Laurn Randell would all single, bringing runs in and Aaron Garza hit a sacrifice fly scoring Field.

Scoring for the Bobcats continued in the fourth, as they would drive in four more runs. Witek and Wood would walk, Garza doubled down left field line, bringing in Witek. Bunn stepped up to the plate, hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Wood. Randell would score, extending the Bobcats lead to six.

Prairie View A&M would tack on a run in the sixth and seventh, but one big inning in the seventh would seal the win for the Bobcats. Four more Bobcat runs would score before Field stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded. Field sent a ball sailing over the left field wall for the first grand slam of the season. He would bring in Jason Miranda, Gerry Cervantez, and Casey Guest.

Finishing up the scoring were Garza and Bunn. Garza singled to shortstop and Bunn hit home run, to finish things off. The Bobcats scored nine runs in the seventh and held Prairie View A&M scoreless in the eighth for the final.

Steven Siers gets the win, throwing four innings, allowing four hits and striking out five. In 42 visits to the plate, the Bobcats had 18 RBIs, five of which were Bunn's.

Texas State travels to San Antonio Wolff Stadium for a two game series with Notre Dame this weekend. Game time is 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for the game can be purchased at Wolff Stadium and are $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.
