Edinburg, Tx. - Freshman Jonathan Sloan led the Texas State Bobcats with a career-high twenty points, classmate Ty Gough posted his first double-double of the season and four fellow teammates scored in the double digits as the `Cats defeated Texas-Pan American in a 102-75 victory Wednesday night in Edinburg.

The Bobcats will head to their respective Thanksgiving feasts boasting a 4-1 record, while the Broncs fall to 3-1 with the loss.

Chris Agwumaro sparked the Bobcat offense with a jumper at 18:42 and UTPA's Paul Stoll answered with a lay-up for the sole tie of the game, but the `Cats never looked back, posting 52 additional points in the first half of basketball.

The `Cats scored ten unanswered points before Emmanuel Jones hit his first jumper of the night, coming straight from the bench, putting the score at 15-4. A three-pointer by Stoll put the Broncs within nine points at 10:52, but a Brandon Bush lay-up placed the `Cats out of reach.

Up 47-29, Ryan White was able to make a fast break and lay in two points at 4:53 to put the Bobcats ahead by 18, the largest gap of the half. Nathan Hawkins added the final two points of the period for the Broncs on free shots before each team retired at the half with a score of 54-38.

The second half proved just as prosperous for the `Cats who shot 53 percent from the field. A dunk by Cameron Johnson put Texas State up by 32, the largest lead in the contest, making the score 97-65. Johnson finished the night with seven points.

UTPA was held to just 10-33 shots in the second half, despite sinking 15 of their 20 free throw shots. The Broncs were also able to convert a number of Texas State turnovers into 18 second-half points as well.

Sloan led the `Cats in the border battle with a twenty point performance, pulling down five boards. Brent Benson followed his lead handing the `Cats 16 points, while Gough added 14 and led the team in rebounds with ten, a high for both squads. Both Corey Jefferson and Bush were able to chip in 13 for the Bobcats and White rounded out the double-digit crew for Texas State with ten.

Four of UTPA's players were able to post double digit scores with Jones leading the pack contributing 17 and pulling in seven rebounds. Brian Burrell added 16, while Zach Trader put in 11 and Stoll added ten.

After the holiday break the Bobcats will travel to Prairie View A&M on the 29th for a 7 p.m. contest with the Panthers.
