Ashley Cole scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, Brittany Wilson registered a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds and Joyce Ekworomadu scored a game-high 18 points as Texas State remained undefeated at home with an 84-55 win over Concordia.
The Bobcats (2-1) moved back above .500 in their final tune-up before the travel to New Mexico for a Thanksgiving tournament while Concordia (0-1) dropped its season opener.
Both teams got off to a slow start with the `Cats holding a narrow 8-4 lead eight minutes into the game, but Texas State's defense limited the Tornados to only three points over the next 10 minutes, using a 25-3 run to grab a 29-7 lead a little over three minutes before half time.
Brooke DeGrate kept the home fans happy with a three-pointer from half court at the buzzer that sent Texas State into the locker room with a 34-16 half time lead. Concordia made only four field goals in the entire first half, shooting less than 15 percent from the floor.
The Bobcats stayed hot in the second half, converting over half of their shot attempts and going 8-of-14 on three pointers in the second half alone. Texas State's lead grew to as much as 33 points in the half while never dipping below 25.
Four Bobcats finished in double figures, led by Ekworomadu's 18. DeGrate also had six assists and five steals to go along with her 10 points, while Wilson became the first Texas State player to record a double-double on the year.
Kassandra Bills led Concordia with 17 points while Lori Lee Beck added 13.
