SAN MARCOS - The Texas State soccer program could not stop the quick speed and aggressiveness of McNeese State on Friday night, resulting in a 3-0 upset at Bobcat Field. The Bobcats have not posted a victory since its 3-0 shutout against Sam Houston State in October.

The Cowgirls (10-4-4; 6-1-1SLC), coming off two home victories, did not waste time scoring in Friday's contest, posting their first goal on a quick give-and-go play in the 17th minute. Sara Overfelt slid a cross to Kamryn Koch who knocked her thirteenth goal of the season into the left side of the net.

The Bobcats posted nine shots in the first half of regulation, however McNeese's Shelby Money was able to deflect them all, recording five saves for the match.

On a quick turnaround from a Texas State foul in the opening minutes of the second half, Alana Clark had the chance to maneuver the ball to the open field. Clark found Overfelt with a cross and after hitting the top post, the ball fell into the net to put the Cowgirls up by two.

Clark later notched what would be the final goal of the game in the 72nd minute off an assist from Mayra Torres.

The Bobcats rivaled McNeese State in the second half of play, posting six shots to their seven, although not one connected for goal. Junior Rikki Padia took a team-leading five shots in the contest.

Bobcat goalie Amanda Byrd was able to record four saves in her 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Bobcats will play their final home game this season on Sunday at Bobcat Field. The 1 p.m. decision against Lamar will be dedicated to seniors Jerelyn Lemmie, Erin Mursch, Angela Crissy and Laura Burden. There will be a ceremony honoring these student-athletes for their accomplishments following the game.
