SAN MARCOS - The Texas State Bobcats' shutout streak was brought to an end after four matches in a 2-1 physical double overtime duel against Stephen F. Austin Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

The `Cats (3-9-1, 2-1-1 SLC) and Ladyjacks (6-3-2, 2-0-1) combined to register 22 total fouls and each team split four yellow card cautions.

In the 22nd minute of action, Ladyjack Kelli Wilson headed in a high pass from teammate Lauren Fricks and, with the help of the `Cats left goal post, the ball slid in past Texas State's Amanda Byrd for the first goal of the afternoon.

After trailing 1-0 for over sixty minutes, freshman Britney Curry recorded her fifth goal of the season just in the nick of time. With an assist from teammate Andrea Seledee, Curry battled one-on-one with an SFA defender, beating her out and firing a shot inside the right post from about 10 yards out, tying the game 1-1 and forcing the match into overtime.

The first overtime period was all about defense as the two teams combined for only one shot, taken by Curry, who sent one high that barely grazed the crossbar.

A little after five minutes into the second overtime Jessica Cotton found Fricks' corner kick in the midst of several Bobcat defenders and headed it in for the game winning goal.

The Bobcats will have a week's rest until their next SLC match against UTSA on Oct. 21. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
