CORPUS CHRISTI - A balanced offensive attack saw five Bobcats tally at least six kills, and Texas State recorded only nine attack errors as a team while hitting .349 in a 3-0 (30-21, 30-18, 30-18) win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.

Amy Weigle led the Bobcats (11-7, 4-2 SLC) on offense with eight kills and only one error in 11 attacks, a .636 hitting percentage, while the defense held the Islanders (4-16, 1-6 SLC) to a .068 attack percentage.

The teams traded points to open the match until an 11-4 Bobcat run put Texas State up 20-14 in game one. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got no closer than four points, as the `Cats closed out the game with the final four points and a 30-21 win.

Five Texas State aces in game two, including three by Melinda Cave, paced the Bobcats' 30-18 win in game two. The `Cats never trailed in the game and led by no less than four after taking a 9-5 lead.

After the half time break, Texas State stayed hot by scoring the first six points of game and opening with a 15-5 lead. The Islanders would never close within single digits after that point as Texas State cruised to another 30-18 win and take the match.

Cave finished with five aces, the highest total by a Bobcat this season, while Shelbi Irvin had 19 assists. Defensively, Kacey Wimpy had eight digs and Emily Jones followed up a seven block performance on Thursday with five more against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

For the Islanders, Christie Feliz finished with a match-high nine kills, while Molly McCabe had 30 assists.

Texas State continues its road trip next Friday night at Lamar.
