Bobcat Men Drop Decision in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRIST - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi held Texas State to just 26 percent shooting and more than doubled the Bobcats' rebound total in a 90-42 win here Thursday.

Josh Washington scored 15 points and despite being held below his double-digit scoring average, Chris Daniels pulled down 10 rebounds, went 4-for-4 from the field en route to an eight-point night and blocked three shots in the Islanders win.

Texas State was led by Brandon Bush who finished with a game-high 18 points. Bush was 7-for-16 from the field including 3-of-6 from three point range. Unfortunately, Bush's three rebounds was also a team-high.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outrebounded the Bobcats 47-21 and also shot 62 percent from the field. Scooby Johnson added 11 points and Seth Engelken finished with 10 for TAMUCC.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is in its first season in the Southland Conference but the league's coaches made the Islanders a preseason favorite to capture the conference's West Division last fall. TAMUCC improved to 13-4 and 4-0 in league play with the win.

Texas State is now 7-11 and 2-3. The Bobcats return home from a three-game road swing Saturday to play host to Texas-San Antonio. Tip-off for Saturday's contest against the Roadrunners is slated for 6 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum.
