FLAGSTAFF, AZ - Two Texas State goals in the second half of play weren't enough to salvage a win as the Bobcats fell 4-2 to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Sunday afternoon at the La Quinta Inn & Suites High Altitude Tournament in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Bobcats looked to go into half time trailing 1-0, but Northern Arizona's Sarah Vallen scored with less than a minute to play to give the Lumberjacks a 2-0 lead at the break.

Texas State (1-6) came out firing in the second half, out-shooting Northern Arizona (4-4) 11-9 and scoring twice, but the Lumberjacks scored two second-half goals of their own to hold on for the win.

Senior Kim Phillips scored her first goal of the season on an assist from junior Jerelyn Lemmie in the 74th minute to make it a 3-1 game. It was the first goal of the season for Phillips, a preseason All-Southland Conference First Team member. In the final minute of play, freshman Lindsay Tippit scored her first career goal on an assist from fellow freshman Andrea Seledee.

Phillips and Tippit became the sixth and seventh different Bobcat players to record goals through the team's first seven games. It is believed to be the longest stretch of goals without a multi-goal scorer to ever open a season in Bobcat soccer's eight year history.

Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Fraser started for the second straight game, amassing seven saves while giving up four goals in taking the loss. Fraser now has a 0-2 record after playing all 180 minutes in goal for the `Cats over the weekend. For Northern Arizona, Darin Kleinsmith allowed two goals and made five saves to earn the victory for the Lumberjacks.

The Bobcats will now head back to the friendly confines of the Bobcat Soccer Complex after consecutive weekend road trips out west. Texas State will host Rice on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Houston to take on the University of Houston Cougars Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
