EL PASO -
The Texas State women's soccer team was swept on its first road trip of the 2006 season Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to host school UTEP at the Border Classic in El Paso.
Senior Natalie Holder led Texas State in shots on goal with two in a game that saw little success in the offensive zone. Holder was the only Bobcat with multiple shots on goal, and the Bobcats were outshot as a team 27-11.
On the Miners' side, junior Jessica Salvi recorded UTEP's fifth consecutive shutout by making five saves. Offensively four different Miners scored goals and seven recorded points. The win was a school record fifth straight for UTEP.
The loss dropped Texas State to 1-4 on the season while UTEP improved to 6-1.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back with another western road trip next weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona. Texas State will face Long Beach State and host school Northern Arizona.
