Cowgirls Overpower Bobcats 10-0

SAN MARCOS - Oklahoma State scored two goals in the opening five minutes and didn't let up on the way to a 10-0 win over the Bobcats Friday night before a crowd of 500 at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

Senior Jesyca Rosholt scored the games first goal 2:23 into the game before senior Ashlyn Brantley added the second at the 4:44 mark. Oklahoma State continued to stockpile goals throughout the half, leading 5-0 at half time.

The Cowgirls didn't let up when play resumed, scoring five more times in the second half. For the game red-shirt freshman Leah Hope led everyone with three goals, while junior Sasa Jackson and sophomore Jamie Markaverick each scored twice. Freshman Siera Strawser was credited with the other goal for the Cowgirls and Jeanne Rankin recorded the win.

For the Bobcats, the offense managed just three shots on goal and seven for the game. Texas State did have one excellent chance to score when freshman Andrea Grifo hit the crossbar in the 33rd minute. Senior Kim Phillips corralled the rebound but missed the put back attempt wide left. Also for the `Cats, senior goalkeeper Brittany Beltramini took the loss.

The game marked the season opener for both schools. Oklahoma State will now return home to play Missouri State on Sunday. The Bobcats will also return to action looking to rebound from their loss on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when they host the North Texas Mean Green.
