Bobcats Sweep Saturday Doubleheader

SAN MARCOS - Texas State received a go ahead two-out two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth from Amy Krueger to slide past Northwestern State 2-1 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Bobcat Field.

Northwestern State took the early 1-0 lead in the top half of the second. Brittany Card was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Sarina Noack groundout to first base.

Texas State (27-13, 13-1) was held scoreless through the first four innings until Krueger's two-out two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth gave the `Cats a 2-1 advantage.

Ashton Peters led off the bottom of the inning with a single to left field. Jetta Weinheimer would enter the game to pinch run for Peters and was sacrificed to second by Tamara Keller. After a Ryan Kos walk and an Ali McCormack strikeout, Krueger sent a shot to the right center field gap that put Texas State ahead, 2-1.

Sarah Lancour pitched a strong seven innings to win her sixth-straight decision and improve her Southland Conference record to 6-0. Lancour allowed only two hits while striking out three Lady Demons.

Texas State and Northwestern State will conclude its three-game series on Sunday, with first pitch slated for noon.
