Texas State cruised to a 5-0 victory over Nicholls State on Sunday afternoon, treating the three graduating seniors, Kristin Gunter, Amy Hromadka and Katie Ann Trahan to their final home win at Bobcat Field.
Texas State improved to 18-3 in the Southland Conference and closed out its home campaign with a 15-2 mark, the third best in school history.
Freshman Ali McCormack broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second, sending her second home run in as many games deep over the left field fence.
Texas State would put the game out of reach in the fourth, sending nine batters to the plate and rallying for four runs. The Lady Colonels surrendered four walks, a wild pitch and RBI singles from Hromadka and Ryan Kos to fall behind, 5-0.
Trahan was nearly sound, scattering only two hits while striking out seven en route to her tenth shutout of the year and 20th overall win. She also improved her league-best ERA to a bleak 1.33 while earning her 12th conference win.
The Bobcats will close out their 2006 regular-season schedule next weekend, as they head to Louisiana April 29 to tangle with the Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians.
Texas State will then begin preparations for the SLC Tournament in Natchitoches, La., May 5-7.
