Texas State used its home-opener to erase a five-game losing skid on Tuesday night with a 15-1 victory in game one of a doubleheader against the College of Charleston.
The Bobcats erased a five-run deficit in the second game of the night to complete a 9-6 come-from-behind victory and sweep the series.
Texas State (12-10) made it look easy in the first game, dropping the Cougars in only five innings.
The Bobcat offense exploded for 15 runs off 11 hits, including a grand slam from freshman Tamara Keller, the first of her college career.
Senior pitcher Katie Ann Trahan was solid, scattering three hits while striking out 11 en route to her 100th strikeout of the season and her sixth victory of the year.
Kristin Gunter continued her hot hitting streak, batting 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs and smashing her fifth home run of the season in the third inning.
For the fourth time of the season, the Bobcats sent their entire lineup to the plate and had eight different batters account for a hit.
In the nightcap, the College of Charleston (12-10) offense awoke with a Jennifer Golden three-run bomb to left field in the top of the first to take an early 3-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Golden struck again with her second home run of the night in identical fashion to stretch the lead to 6-1.
Trahan entered the game in the third inning after Sarah Lancour surrendered four runs on four hits in two innings of work.
The Bobcats would not back down, rallying to score four runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull the game within one. After back-to-back singles from Alex Newton and Trahan, Ryan Kos hit her first home run of the season to shorten the Cougar lead.
Texas State kept the rally going with two singles and a walk to load the bases for Amy Krueger. Krueger came through in the clutch with a sacrifice fly to center field that closed the lead to 6-5.
The Texas State bats stayed hot, using three singles and a double steal to plate three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-6 lead.
The Bobcats would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory 9-6 and begin a two-game winning streak.
Texas State will be back in action Thursday when they host the No. 3 Texas Longhorns (24-1) at 6 p.m.
