Bobcats Suffer 4-3 Loss at McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. - With rain threatening, singles competition in Texas State's Southland Conference match at McNeese State were played first. Still, it took the ensuing doubles play to determine a winner as the Cowgirls posted a 4-3 win over the Bobcats Sunday.

With the score tied at 3-3 after singles play, it took two McNeese State wins in doubles play for the win. Urska Dobersek and Ann Grobbelaar's 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles for the Cowgirls against Ashley Ellis and Lainy Chafitz was the game-winner.

McNeese State's Noelia Furno and Madelein Hakansson defeated Leja Sirola and Sumarie Muller 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Texas State's lone doubles win came at No. 3 where Christina Amo and Natalie McLeod defeated Hanna Bihorac and Natascha Jongeneel 8-1.

Amo also defeated Dobersek 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Texas State's other singles wins came at No. 5 where Muller defeated Bihorac 6-3, 6-0 while Jana Cucciniello defeated Jongeneel 6-2, 6-2.

With the loss, Texas State dropped to 3-12 and 1-3 in Southland Conference play. The Bobcats return to Southland Conference play this weekend, taking on Texas-Arlington and Sam Houston State this weekend.
