LAFAYETTE, La. -
The 51st ranked Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team won its ninth straight match Saturday, defeating Texas State 4-2 at Cajun Courts.
The Cajuns won two of three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The No. 1 doubles were not finished.
Clemence Remy and Kimmie Lyles defeated Jana Cucciniello and Leja Sirola 8-1 at the No. 2 doubles. At the No. 3, Chanell Meijer and Marine Neveu knocked off Christina Amo and Natalie McLeod 8-2.
In singles play, UL won the No. 2, No.5 and No. 6 slots. The No. 1 and No. 4 singles slots were not finished.
At the No. 2, Chanell Meijer defeated Lainy Chafitz in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. At the No.3, Remy fell to Christina Amo 6-1, 6-4. Kimmie Lyles knocked off Sumarie Muller at the No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 6, Thais Bortoletto beat Natalie McLeod 6-2, 6-0.
Texas State will close out its two-day road swing tomorrow at 10 a.m. when they square off with SLC rival McNeese State in Lake Charles, La.
