HOUSTON, Texas - Texas State dropped its first game of the weekend on Saturday, losing to BYU 1-0 in the third day of the Crowne Plaza Classic in Houston.

Less than 12-hours after winning its Friday night match-up against tournament-host Houston, Texas State was back on the field at 9 a.m. to take on a hungry BYU team.

BYU (10-4) was eager to pick up a win, having lost its first two games of the tournament. They were also looking to avenge an earlier 8-3 loss to Texas State in the Hawaii Paradise Classic.

The Cougars loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but Katie Ann Trahan picked up one of her eight strikeouts on the day to kill the Cougar rally.

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when BYU's Jennifer Whiteley singled, moved to second on a sacrifice, reached third on a wild pitch and then scored off a sacrifice fly from Krystle Chamberlain.

Texas State fell to 10-6 on the season, only managing four hits in the 1-0 loss.

Texas State was scheduled to play at 1 p.m. today against Wichita State, but the game has been pushed back to approximately 4:30 p.m. due to rain in the Houston area.

Sunday's games are scheduled to start on time, as the Bobcats take on Iowa State at 9 a.m. in the final day of the Crowne Plaza Classic.
