LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State extended its winning streak to six games, as they defeated Texas State 2-1 in the nightcap of the Troy Cox Classic.

New Mexico State (8-3) received a great performance from senior pitcher Sarah Seagraves (6-1), pitching a two-hitter and retiring the first 17 batters she faced in the 2-1 victory.

The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the fifth as Kristi Randall singled to leadoff the inning, advanced to third on an error and scored on a single down the third base line by Ashley Roszkos.

Seagraves had a perfect game through five and two-thirds innings, before an Ashton Peters single with two outs in the top of the sixth broke up the perfect game.

NMSU added another run in the bottom of the sixth, without recording a hit in the inning, as the Bobcats committed three errors to allow the Aggies to take a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh, Texas State closed the gap to 2-1 on a home run to leftfield by Alex Newton, her first in a Bobcat uniform.

That is all the `Cats would get, as the final two batters were retired in order to end the game.

The Bobcats (6-5) never gave themselves much of a chance, only managing two hits in the contest and committing a season-high six errors.

Texas State will close out the tournament tomorrow in a doubleheader as they face George Mason at 10 a.m. and Morehead State at 12:30 p.m.
