HONOLULU -
After losing a tough first game to Loyola Marymount 1-0, the Bobcats clawed back in the second game of the afternoon to upset No. 25 BYU in eight innings 6-4.
The Bobcats struggled in the first game, only managing three hits off the reigning 2005 PCSC Pitcher of the Year, Tiffany Pagano.
A sophomore from Temecula, Calif., Pagano picked up her first complete game shutout of the season striking out a career-high 12 batters while walking just one to lead the Lions to their second victory of the year.
The only run of the game came in the fifth inning off an arrant throw by first baseman Kristen Gunter, who attempted to throw out a runner at third base. The throw was off and allowed Kirsten Slouber to score the game's lone run.
Despite the tough loss, Sarah Lancour pitched a solid game for the Bobcats, only allowing one run on four hits to go along with five strikeouts.
The Bobcats will take on another double-header Saturday when they face SLC rival Texas-Arlington and tournament-host Hawaii. The first game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. with the second game to follow at 5 p.m.
