LUBBOCK -
The Texas State women's soccer team closed out its 2006 nonconference schedule with a 3-0 loss to Texas Tech Tuesday night in Lubbock.
The loss ended a three game unbeaten streak for the Bobcats, their longest of the season. The last loss before Tech was a 1-0 loss at Sam Houston State on Oct. 1.
Texas Tech got on the board in the first half when Zhaleh Rezaie beat Brittany Beltramini. The Red Raiders took that 1-0 lead into the second half and scored two more goals against senior goalkeeper Paige Perriraz, who replaced Beltramini for the second frame.
Lauren Martell and Brittney Harrison also scored in the game for Texas Tech, who outshot the Bobcats 19-10 for the match. Texas State freshmen Andrea Seledee and Ana Viscariello along with sophomore Rikki Padia came close to scoring, but all three were turned away by the Red Raider defense.
The Bobcats will now return home and have some time off after playing four matches in the last seven days. Texas State will next take the field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, as it resumes the Southland Conference schedule against Nicholls State at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
