Texas State soccer lost to Rice 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the first of nine games on the road. This marks the Bobcats' fifth consecutive loss this season (0-5 overall).
Jerelyn Lemmie, who has one of Texas State's three goals on the season, made a team-best two shots on the afternoon as the Bobcats were outshot 24-9. Junior goalkeeper Paige Perriraz started the game for Texas State, giving up three goals in the first half. Brittany Beltratmini, who started the first four games this season, took over at the half, making two saves and allowing a goal in the game's 78th minute.
Texas State played without starting forward Danielle Holloway after she was injured early in Friday's 3-1 loss to UTEP.
Rice (3-1 overall) entered the afternoon on the heels of a 12-0 shutout over Texas Southern on Thursday night. Anne Candee and Maria Fadool each notched their second goals of the season with Candee's coming at the 2:16 mark of the first half. Candee also assisted on Rice's third goal by Kelly Brolan (1). Goalkeeper Adriene Giese made six saves before being relieved by junior Amy McClintock.
The Bobcats head to Centenary (Shreveport, LA) on Friday (7 p.m.) to battle the Ladies (2-4). The Bobcats begin Southland Conference play on September 30 versus Stephen F. Austin.
