Texas State first baseman/outfielder Kyle Jones was named to the Texas Collegiate League's Hornsby Division All-Star team Tuesday.
Jones is the starting right fielder for the TCL's Denton Outlaws, and is hitting .292 on the year, with two doubles, a triple and a home run to go with 11 RBIs and 19 runs scored. This past season at Texas State, Jones hit .279 with four home runs and 39 RBIs in 53 games for the Bobcats.
Jones' Denton club is 1.5 games back of first-place Weatherford in the Rogers Hornsby Division with a record of 10-16.
The rosters and starting lineups for each division were selected by the head coaches in that respective division. The starting designated hitters and pitchers will be chosen by the All-Star Head Coaches, who will come from the team with the best record in each division through games of July 10.
The Brookshire's McCormick All-Star Game begins at 7:05 p.m. and will be televised by Fox Sports Net Southwest. There will be a pre-game Home Run Derby and a post-game Fireworks Show. For tickets and more information, please call the McKinney Marshals at 972-747-9374.
