SAN MARCOS - Dallas Baptist used five hits and three Texas State errors Tuesday night, as the Patriots beat the Bobcats 6-1 at Bobcat Field.

Dallas Baptist (29-20) got things going early, plating two runs in the top of the second when Drew Holder shot a triple down the right field line to score Ryan Olivo, and Holder scored when Nolan Mast's throw to third got away from Kyle Anson.

Texas State (30-19, 13-8 SLC) got one run back in the bottom of the second inning, when Dawid Bednarek singled home Cassidy Dresch, cutting the Patriot lead to 2-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, the `Cats loaded the bases with two outs for Mast. Mast launched the DBU offering toward the wall in left, but Dallas Baptist left fielder Israel Victor got his glove just above the outfield wall to bring the grand-slam attempt back into the park for the inning's final out.

The two teams traded shut-out innings until the top of the seventh, when DBU used only one hit to score four runs and extend its lead to 6-1. Cody Montgomery got things stared with a one-out walk, which was followed by Olivo's two-run shot over the wall in right. The Patriots used a wild pitch and a passed ball to score the inning's next two runs on the way to the five run lead.

Dallas Baptist left-hander Barrett Pliler went seven innings in the contest, giving up only one run on six hits and carding one strike out on the way to the win, moving his record to 3-2 on the season.

Dresch and Dominic Ramos had the `Cats only two-hit outings, as Dresch went two-for-four with a run scored, and Ramos went two-for-five in the contest. Bednarek had the `Cats only RBI in his one-for-two day at the plate.
