Chris Jean threw 9.2 innings, and four Bobcats had multi-hit games, but a tenth-inning walk-off home run sent Southeastern Louisiana past Texas State 4-3, ending the 'Cats season.
The Lions took the game's first lead in the second, scoring on Rob Territo's RBI single to center, and the Bobcats answered in the fourth when Heath Keel singled home Kyle Anson.
Southeastern regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a Trent Hebert home run to center, and the `Cats again tied the game in the top of the sixth with an RBI single from Jose Rodriguez that scored Elliott Babcock.
In the home half of the sixth, SLU knocked home a run on an RBI ground out, and Texas State set the game up for extra innings in the top of the eight when Kyle Jones drove home Babcock with a single.
After sitting the Bobcats in order, Southeastern Louisiana was down to its final out in the tenth when second baseman Kyle Ginn sent a Chris Jean offering deep to center, providing the walk-off fireworks that sent Southeastern into the tournament's third day with an unblemished record. It was the second straight extra-inning win for SLU in the tournament.
Texas State's season ended at 32-26, and Jean pitched a career-best 9.2 innnings, striking out 13, which tied for the second best single-game strike-out total in Texas State history. The complete game was the second for Jean this season, and the loss dropped the senior right hander's record to 7-5 on the year.
Babcock was six-for-ten in the two post-season games, and the Bobcat freshman scored three runs on the week. Jones went four-for-ten on the two-day trip, hammering home five runs and hitting his fourth homer of the year.
