SAN MARCOS - Texas State basketball coach Dennis Nutt announced Thursday the signing of junior college forward Jushay Rockett to a National Letter of Intent giving the Bobcats a seven-player signing class.

Rockett (6-5, 225) played the last two seasons for Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., where he was a member of the Matadors' National Junior College Athletic Association regional championship team which advanced to the NJCAA national tournament and finished with a 31-3 record.

As a sophomore, Rockett averaged 10.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range. The Long Beach, Calif., native prepped at Cabrillo High School where played against Texas State two-sport letter winner Markee White.

"Jushay brings a high energy and can have a high impact on a game without scoring," said Arizona Western coach Kelly Green. "If you need a big rebound, he'll get it for you. He is an incredible player and an excellent defender."

"Jushay will bring a lot of experience and talent to our team," Nutt said. "He can play a multiple number of positions for us and we're excited that he has signed with Texas State."

Rockett is one of two junior college transfers in this year's signing class as the `Cats earlier signed Navarro Junior College forward Charles Dotson (6-5, 215). Texas State also signed Dallas Madison wing Jason Rogers (6-4, 180) this spring.

The Bobcats concentrated on height and size during the early signing period, inking four players to NLIs. Texas State signed Brandon Bush (6-6, 185) out of Houston's Mayde Creek High School, Coppell's Trevor Cook (6-9, 210), Frisco's Dylan Moseley (6-8, 215) and C. J. Webster (6-8, 245) from Marshall High School in Missouri City last November.
