The Cowboys tied the game in the fourth, when Chris Fontenot scored from second on a Scott Moore wild pitch paired with Bednarek's second throwing error of the night.

Texas State got one of the runs back in the fifth, scoring on Kyle Anson's RBI single through the left side, but the Cowboys distanced themselves further in the sixth, scoring two runs on Charlie Kingrey's two-RBI double to right center.

The two teams would remain scoreless through the next three and a half innings, and Jacob Marceaux went the distance for the Cowboys to get his fifth win of the season. Scott Moore took the loss for the Bobcats, pitching 5.1 innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) and striking out nine. Moore walked six batters, and was tagged for his fifth loss in as many decisions, dropping his record to 4-5 on the year.

Nolan Mast and Bednarek were the only Bobcats to go for multiple hits, as Bednarek went two-for-four with a run scored, while Mast was three-for-five in the game. Anson, Cannon and Dresch each had a single RBI in the contest.

The loss allowed Texas-San Antonio to move into a tie for second with Texas State and Texas-Arlington. UTSA knocked off Lamar 7-4 Friday afternoon, while UT-Arlington was downed 4-2 by Southeastern Louisiana. Northwestern State dropped a 5-4 decision to last-place Nicholls State, but the Demons remain atop the SLC standings by four games.
