Texas State Suffers 5-2 Loss at Sam Houston

HUNTSVILLE - Sam Houston State won the top four singles matches all in straight sets and also earned the doubles points to beat Texas State 5-2 Sunday.

The Bobcats lost their third straight in league play to fall to 6-11 and 3-6 in SLC action heading into the final week of the regular season. Texas State will play host to Trinity Saturday at 12 p.m. for CenturyTel's Pack the Courts then wrap up league play against Lamar on Sunday. Sam Houston State improved to 8-8 in 3-4.

Sumarie Muller teamed with Jana Cucciniello at No. 3 doubles to beat Sam Houston's Emma McDougall and Bethany Yurkiw 8-0. Muller also won at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Yurkiw. The Bobcats' only other win came at No. 5 singles where Tina Klemenc defeated Erika Rudich 6-3, 6-4.
