Texas State Ends Regular Season with 7-4 Loss to Louisiana-Monroe

SAN MARCOS - Texas State dropped the last game in its final series of the season 7-4 to Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at Bobcat Field after sweeping the Lady Indians 7-0, 9-0 on Saturday. Center fielder Amy Hromadka led the Bobcats, going two-for-four and scoring two runs.

Texas State ended the regular season at .500 with a 25-25 overall record and 18-8 in the Southland Conference. Louisiana-Monroe moved to 15-44 overall and 5-22 in the SLC. Jennifer Braley picked up the win for the Lady Indians allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits, walking five and striking out four.

Sarah Lancour recorded the loss for the Bobcats. In three innings she allowed five runs (three earned) onsix hits. Katie Ann Trahan allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six in four innings of work.

Texas State jumped on the board first in the bottom of the third inning. Seniors Rachael Bonetti and Ashley Wilson both scored on a double to the left field fence by designated player Ashton Peters.

Louisiana-Monroe came right back to tie the game 2-2 in the fourth. Heather Williams got the Lady Indians started with a solo home run over the left field wall. Lindsay Taylor then reached on a single to center field and scored on a double to right center by Courtney Tuggle.

Lauren Griffith hit a double to left center, driving in Hromadka to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

ULM scored five more runs over the next two innings, giving them the 7-3 advantage heading into the final inning of the game.

The Bobcats managed to put together one more offensive effort before being shut down by the Lady Indians defense. Hromadka hit a double to the left field fence followed by a single up the middle from Griffith. A throwing error by Louisiana-Monroe's first baseman allowed Hromadka to score the final run for the Bobcats.

Texas State will be off next weekend as it begins preparations for the conference tournament which begins on May 6 in Hammond, La. Currently the Bobcats are third in the conference standings with the top two teams, Texas-San Antonio and Sam Houston State, scheduled to play each other next weekend.
