Texas State Shuts Down ULM 7-0, 9-0

SAN MARCOS - Katie Ann Trahan and Sarah Lancour both pitched shutouts against Louisiana-Monroe Saturday as Texas State swept the Lady Indians 7-0, 9-0.

Left fielder Amy Krueger was four-for-five with three RBI and one run scored while Trahan went three-for-six, including a home run with three RBI.

Trahan notched her sixth shutout of the season, allowing only four hits while striking out eight and walking one. Lancour picked up her first shutout of the season, closing down ULM in five innings with eight strikeouts and only four hits.

In the first game with two outs in the second inning, catcher Rachael Bonetti walked. Kristin Gunter reached first on a bunt, advancing Bonetti to second. Bonetti scored the first run of the game off a double to deep left center by senior Leslie Sharp. Next, Amy Hromadka singled through the left side then stole second allowing Gunter to score run number two. Krueger singled, hitting the left field wall and driving in Sharp and Hromadka to give the Bobcats a 4-0 lead.

Bonetti doubled in the third, scoring Britain and widening Texas State's lead to 5-0.

The Bobcats capped off the game with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Gunter reached first on an error by the Lady Indians. Bonetti and pinch runner Jill Kloesel scored on the play.

Jennifer Braley took the loss for the Lady Indians, dropping her record to 4-17. In two innings of work, she allowed four runs on four hits, striking out one and walking two. Danielle Lahr, who pitched four innings, gave up three runs on five hits.

In game two Texas State scored nine runs on 11 hits, run-ruling the Lady Indians in five innings.

As in game one, Bonetti scored the first run of the game. She scored on sacrifice bunt by Sharp in the bottom of the second inning.

Texas State had back-to-back four run innings in the third and fourth innings.

In the third with two outs, Wilson reached and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Trahan hit a line drive down the right field line allowing Wilson to score. Britain singled and Bonetti drew a walk loading the bases. Gunter hit a base-clearing double to the right center field fence and advanced to third on a bad throwing putting the `Cats up 5-0.

Hromadka scored on a Krueger double to right center, and Krueger scored on an error. Trahan drove in the final runs of the game with a two-run bomb over the left field fence.

ULM had one last chance to get on the board in the top of the fifth, but went down in order dropping them to 14-44 on the season and 4-22 in the Southland Conference.

Texas State improved to 25-24 on the season and 18-7 in the SLC, with the doubleheader sweep. The conference series concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Texas State will be honoring its seniors after the game for all that they have done for Bobcat Softball.
