HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Lauren Boone hit a three-run home run to give Sam Houston State a 3-0 victory in the first game and Amy Krueger doubled and scored on an error as Texas State won the nightcap 1-0 in a Southland Conference softball doubleheader Wednesday.

 

Katie Ann Trahan pitched both games for the Bobcats (10-14, SLC 4-1) while Shalayne Blythe pitched the first game and Melissa Collins the second for Sam Houston (9-15, SLC 4-1).

 

For the day, Trahan (10-11) gave up nine hits and struck out 16 in 12 innings work.

 

Blythe (4-5) was the winner in the first game, striking out six batters and allowing only six hits. Collins (2-8) was the loser in the second, giving up only four hits and striking out three.

 

The two teams will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. in the third and final game of the series.
