Bobcats Shutout Lions in SLC Opener

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State softball handed Southeastern Louisiana its first conference loss 8-0 on Saturday at Bobcat Field. Katie Ann Trahan went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and tossed her first no-hitter of the season.

The second game of the double header was postponed after the first inning, until 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, due to weather.

Trahan (7-10) recorded ten strikeouts in the win over the Lions as Texas State (7-14, 1-0) belted out ten hits against the Lion's Jamie Militello (0-1). Southeastern Louisiana falls to 4-8 with the loss.

Kristin Gunter plated the Bobcats first run of the night in the first inning when she dropped a double into center field that brought in Amy Hromadka from second base. Amy Krueger added one run on a fielder's choice.

Before the first inning was over the Bobcats put three more runs on the board with Trahan's second homerun of the season driving in Gunter and Rachael Bonetti, for the 5-0 lead.

Texas State posted three more runs to end the game in six innings, led-off by a solo homerun from senior Ashley Wilson. Hromadka hit a triple driving in the final two runs of the game.

Texas State and Southeastern Louisiana will pick-up with the second game of the three game series tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at Bobcat Field, followed by the regularly scheduled Sunday game.
