Box Score

SAN MARCOS - Dawid Bednarek drove home three and Scott Moore pitched five scoreless innings in Texas State's 12-0 rout of the Baylor Bears Tuesday night in San Marcos.

Texas State got on top in the second inning, when Jared Bunn and Kyle Jones scored on Bednarek's two-RBI single, putting the Bobcats up 2-0 through two complete innings.

The Bobcats broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on just one hit and three Baylor errors. Cassidy Dresch cashed in an RBI when Bednarek scored on a Baylor throwing error, and Luke Cannon hit a check-swing double down the left field line that scored Mast and Dresch.

Texas State's offensive fire continued in the seventh inning, as the Bobcats put up five runs, which included Mast's two-RBI double and a bases-loaded RBI walk for Heath Keel. Texas State added an additional insurance run in the eighth, scoring on Jones' RBI ground out that plated Kyle Anson.

Scott Moore fueled the Bobcat fire on the pitching mound, going five shut-out innings, and gaining his fourth win of the season. Moore struck out seven and gave up just one hit to the Baylor offense. Moore's five-inning effort was backed by three shut-out innings for Jarod Garza and one from Chris Hill. In his three innings, Garza allowed one hit and struck out two, while Hill also allowed a hit and struck two Bear batters out in the game's final inning.

Bednarek had arguably the most impressive line for the Bobcats. Although rounding up just one hit, Bednarek went one-for-five with a pair of runs scored and three runs driven in. Jones went two-for-four with two runs scored and an RBI, and Anson continued his success at the plate, going two-for-four with two runs scored, as well.

The Baylor loss was credited to Sean Walker, dropping his record to 1-3, and the Bears fell to 15-8 on the season. They will travel to Stillwater, Okla., Friday, for the first of three in a Big 12 Conference series with Oklahoma State.

Texas State took advantage of four Baylor errors and 11 walks, on the way to its second win over a Big 12 Conference opponent this season. On the other side of the mound, Texas State pitchers walked only three and struck out 11 combined batters. Moore's win puts his record at 4-0, and the Bobcat reliever-turned-starter dropped his ERA to a team-best 0.69 in the win. Texas State improved to 17-8 with the victory.

Along with shutting out the Baylor Bears for the first time in the series between the two schools and winning its fourth straight baseball game, Texas State set a new all-time attendance figure, packing 1,776 fans into the seats at Bobcat Field. The previous record stood at 1,631.

The Bobcats will again take the field Wednesday, when they play host to Texas Southern. First pitch between the Tigers and the Bobcats is slated for 6:30 p.m., at Bobcat Field.
