LAKE CHARLES, La. - After taking both games of a double-header Saturday, the Texas State softball team (15-17, 9-3) failed to come up with the series road sweep, losing on Sunday 7-1 at McNeese State.

The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Beth Jordan doubled to score Brooke Brodhead. The Bobcats answered with a run in the top of the second as Kristen Gunter's double scored Holly Britain.

But McNeese State would put the game away with six runs in the bottom half of the inning. Four of the six runs came on a grand slam by Jordan.

Katie Ann Trahan took the loss pitching to drop her record to 13-13.

Texas State returns to conference action when it plays host to Texas-San Antonio for a three-game series beginning Friday at Bobcat Field. A double-header is slated for Friday beginning at 5 p.m. with a single game scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
