Texas State Posts 4-3 Win Over SFA

SAN MARCOS - Texas State rebounded from losing the doubles point, to win four singles matches and defeat Stephen F. Austin 4-3 in Southland Conference tennis action Saturday at the Texas State Tennis Complex.

With the win, Texas State improved to 6-3 and 3-2 in SLC play while SFA dropped to 2-8 and 0-4. The Bobcats continue the weekend home stand Sunday against McNeese State.

SFA's Robin Houston and Laura Harrison combined to beat Melanie Hall and Tina Klemenc at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, while Ashley Johnson and Megan Langston won at No. 2 doubles for the Ladyjacks, posting an 8-6 win over Margaret Potyrala and Leja Sirola.

But the `Cats stormed back in singles play.

Sirola lost the opening set of her No. 1 singles match to Houston but rebounded for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win while Hall beat Harrison 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Jana Cucciniello posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over Johnson at No. 4 singles while Klemenc claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over Langston at No. 5.
