Texas State Posts 6-1 Win at Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. - Texas State swept doubles play and got five, straight-set wins in singles action to beat Nicholls State 6-1 Saturday.

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 5-6 and 2-1 in Southland Conference play heading into Sunday's match at Southeastern Louisiana. Nicholls State is now 1-7 and 0-3.

In doubles play Saturday, the Bobcats gave up just six points to sweep the three matches and win the first point of the day.

In singles, Texas State's Leja Sirola won at No. 1 beating Dorina Robichaux 6-2, 6-0. Margaret Potyrala won at No. 3 singles in a match in which her opponent retired in the second set.

Jana Cucciniello won at No. 4 singles, beating Monique Savoy 6-4, 6-1 while both Tina Klemenc and Sumarie Muller won at No. 5 and No. 6 in matched decided by straight set scores of 6-2, 6-0.

The Bobcats lone loss Saturday came at No. 2 singles where Nicholls' Jen Rodriguez defeated Texas State's Melanie Hall 7-5, 6-4.
