Texas State won five of six singles matches in straight sets and also won the doubles competition en route to a 6-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday.
With the win, Texas State improved to 2-5 heading into Saturday's 11 a.m. match against Louisiana Tech as the Bobcats continue a five-match home stand. The `Cats were originally scheduled to play North Carolina-Wilmington on Tuesday but that match has been cancelled.
Texas State started the day by winning two of three doubles pairings to win the match's first point.
The Bobcats then one five singles matches to cruise to the win.
Sumarie Muller's 6-4, 6-1 win over Stephanie Canales at No. 6 singles ensured the Bobcats the team win with two singles matches left to play. Texas State's Jana Cucciniello then posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Lana Burton at No. 3 singles while Margaret Potyrala beat Amanda Brahim at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3 to wrap up the victory.
Also on Friday, Texas State's Melanie Hall defeated Carmen Abeaboeru 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Tina Klemenc defeated Lauren Schmidt 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. The Bobcats' lone single loss came at No. 1 singles where the Islanders Carlota Santos beat Leja Sirola 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
