HOUSTON -
Texas State softball wrapped up its weekend with a 1-0 victory over Houston on Sunday during the final day of the Crowne Plaza Classic at the Cougar Softball Complex.
Katie Ann Trahan went the distance for the Bobcats, twirling a nifty one-hit shutout. Trahan recorded nine strikeouts and walked only two batters in notching her fifth win of the season.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first five innings of play, but a home run by junior centerfielder Amy Hromadka in the top of the sixth provided the game's only run and gave the Bobcats what would be the only cushion they needed.
Trahan took a no-hitter into the bottom of the sixth, but Cougar sophomore Jamie Adams recorded her first hit of the season to break up Trahan's gem. A strikeout by junior Lindsay Vanover and a fly out to right field by Jenny Johnson ended the inning.
After a 2-3 weekend in Houston, the Bobcats return home to face nationally-ranked Baylor on Wednesday at Bobcat Field. The doubleheader begins at 5 p.m.
